Position Summary:

The Mental Health Professional, Licensed utilizes a variety of direct behavioral health care skills in the provision of assessment and treatment intervention services for children, adolescents, adults, and families in a community-based setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):

Education: Minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology is required. Licensed as a Social Worker or LPC in the State of Louisiana and adhere to all licensing standards to remain in good standing

Work experience: Minimal experience required. 1-3 years’ experience in Behavioral Health field is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Coursework and work experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual treatment, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation. Must possess the ability to learn new procedures, processes, and methods.

Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interactions with clients, coworkers/staff and stakeholders. Must maintain high level of client confidentiality. Must possess the ability to adapt to change, accept and respond to ongoing supervision and training, be accountable for given tasks and responsibilities, manage time effectively, meet required expectations, and demonstrate the ability to act independently.

Travel Requirements: Home and Community based travel required. Some remote work may be available. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Provides various community mental health services with the goal of client recovery including, but not limited to: assessment, diagnoses, individual and family counseling, therapeutic services, crisis intervention, referrals, and intervention services. Follows federal, state, agency guidelines and industry standards in providing clinical services.

Provides clinical services by conducting scheduling appointments, evaluating client progress in session, and making recommendations to treatment team.

Completes and maintains timely documentation according to federal, state, and agency guidelines.

Serves as a team member for service planning and actively participates in supervision, team coordination and review in an effort to ensure cohesiveness in services rendered on the behalf of the agency for the population served.
