Land Planner I is an entry level position that will focus on learning the foundations of how to be a landscape architect in a multidisciplinary firm. The Land Planner I will need to have a solid technical foundation (planning, modeling, construction knowledge) and display a positive attitude and involvement on a wide range of projects. This position will work closely with landscape architects and civil engineers on multiple projects on a variety of scales.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work to develop the understanding and knowledge of regulations
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of projects developing detailed designs
  • Work closely with surveyors, civil engineers and other design professionals
  • Perform quantity takeoffs
  • Work to develop local plant knowledge that will be beneficial in daily tasks
  • Learn and understand land use categories and guidelines
  • Provide site analysis and research including code requirements
  • Conduct municipal code research
  • Work to understand rendering techniques, grading concepts, and site drainage
  • Learn and understand basic construction techniques
  • Prepare geometric plans
  • Conduct site analysis and inventory

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture

Experience:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a professional design office

Desired Skills:

  • Exceptional AutoCAD technical drawing and digital production skills
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and rendering skills (Lumion, Sketchup, or similar preferred)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Proven experience with construction detailing and construction documentation
  • Exceptional graphic presentation skills including hand drawing and high-quality illustrations
  • Knowledge of horticulture and regional plant material
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with tracking personal project time
  • Ability to understand and follow red line comments on projects
  • Meet profit and billable hour goals

  • Some walking and standing relative to interaction with other personnel
