Location: This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Stuart, FL

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Financial Reporting is a highly effective, results oriented individual with proven ability to lead others toward the successful attainment of objectives. The Director is a key member of Seacoast’s Accounting Team and is responsible for corporate financial reporting activities and functions, including maintaining internal control over financial reporting and overseeing the financial reporting processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the performance of the reporting team in the timely completion of reporting processes for the organization. Coordinate with business lines and accounting teams for timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Analyze and review financial statements and disclosures to ensure appropriate application of GAAP.
  • Oversee financial systems, data quality, and data accessibility to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Responsible for recurring SEC filings, including quarterly earnings releases, quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K.
  • Responsible for transactional filings and registration statements, including pro formas.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of materials supporting investor relations initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of standalone financial statements for significant subsidiaries.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly board reporting package with business insights.
  • Implement and monitor process improvements to manage and streamline activities.
  • Primary liaison with internal and external auditors during audits, reviews, and examinations
  • Maintain strong knowledge of accounting rules and emerging issues. Analyze the implications of potential rule changes to the Company’s financial statements and work closely with business units to develop solutions to manage changes in processes and controls.
  • Present complex reporting matters and relevant communications and analyses to management in a succinct manner. Facilitate knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, financial analyses and participate in special projects.

Process efficiency and strategic solutions:

  • Lead SOX function for the accounting department, including annual scoping and risk assessment analyses. Ensure controls assessments and documentation are monitored and updated. Lead thorough and timely deficiency analysis and remediation efforts.
  • Work to continually enhance internal controls, maintain updated documentation of current departmental policies and procedures, and lead change initiatives, operational effectiveness reviews and process improvements.
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns that create barriers to a high-performing team and work environment.

Leadership and people development:

  • Develop and manage a performance-oriented accounting organization, capable of actively and effectively engaging and growing with the business.
  • Champion and build a culture of control and accountability.
  • Mentor and manage the reporting function to facilitate associate engagement and professional development.
  • Continually strive to develop talent within and recruit talent to the accounting organization to promote associate retention and meet current and future business needs.
  • Adheres to Seacoast Bank’s code of conduct.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • Licensed CPA
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in public accounting (audit background within financial services) or accounting within a large public corporation
  • Previous banking/financial services experience, with strong knowledge of banking products and services and accounting and presentation issues relevant to the industry
  • Mastery of GAAP accounting concepts and current accounting and financial reporting practices
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates sound professional judgment using analytical and problem solving skills
  • Process improvement oriented with the ability to balance multiple projects
