Job Summary:

Seabrook is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and secure environment for our employees, homeowners, and visitors. You will lead the Safety department, spearhead emergency and disaster preparedness initiatives, and assist in overseeing the Seabrook safety committee. This role plays a crucial role in preventing losses and damage, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and contributing to the overall well-being of the community. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual who is passionate about creating a culture of safety excellence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for guests, homeowners, employees, and other Seabrook patrons by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
  • Lead and manage the safety department, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures to mitigate risks and hazards in the workplace.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement, and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and disaster preparedness plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and crisis management strategies.
  • Help lead the employee safety committee, organizing meetings, facilitating discussions, and implementing safety initiatives based on feedback and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for team members, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in occupational health and safety, and implement relevant updates as needed.
  • Prepare and present regular safety reports and metrics to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  • Proactively identify and properly address safety issues. Act as a “champion of safety” for the organization. Responsible for managing and coaching the safety department with their daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and collaborate with department heads to address potential safety hazards.
  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices, including wearing and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment provided by the company.
  • Conduct regular drills to ensure staff and homeowner readiness and familiarity with emergency protocols.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating safety and security hardware and software, such as cameras and checkpoint systems.
  • Coordinates routine and nonroutine maintenance scheduling for Safety vehicle(s).
  • Responsible for creating and updating SOPs relevant to Safety positions and departments. .
  • Performs scheduling, time tracking, and time approvals for the Safety department.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and overseeing the supervision and training of the community response team.
  • Works with disaster preparedness experts to improve Seabrook’s preparedness.
  • Performs a variety of safety functions by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry as necessary.
  • Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; reporting trespassers and suspicious activity.
  • Controls traffic by establishing barriers and barricades for events and parades.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
  • Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
  • May be required to assist other departments as needed for events and other activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and team members at all levels.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach focused on de escalation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in property management systems (PMS) and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to professionally handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in security or public safety or related field desired.
  • 2-5 years in security, policing, or military experience are strongly preferred.
  • Licenses and Certification as may be required by Washington State.
  • Working knowledge and experience with comprehensive emergency management plans and disaster preparedness. Experience leading community response teams is heavily desired.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and reservation software.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and walk moderate distances.
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work within different temperature changes, indoors to outdoors; moving between buildings and working around moving equipment/machines; occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or stairs as required, stooping /bending, pushing/pulling.
  • Occasionally exposed to dust, gas/fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat or cold, electric shock, vibration, chemicals, and noise.

Hourly Rate: $25-$28
