Full Job Description

Prepares desserts, breads, pastries, confections, and ice cream by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans production for pastry department, according to menu or special requirements.
  • Supplies recipes for and suggests methods and procedures to pastry workers.
  • Requisitions supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in preparing desserts
  • Prepares, measures, and cook's ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards, or other desserts.
  • Shapes dough for cookies, pies, cakes, and fancy pastries and cooks dough, fillings, and toppings to desired requirements.
  • Decorates cakes and pastries.
  • Blends colors for icings and for shaped sugar ornaments and statuaries.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver's license preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, food labels, and MSDS labels and warnings. Ability to write simple correspondence to coworkers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

SOCIAL SKILLS

Ability to interact effectively with coworkers and vendors of diverse ages, backgrounds, and interests. Ability to work as a team member under rushed conditions without loss of efficiency or effectiveness.

ECONOMIC IMPACT The impact of decision-making and the potential gain or loss to the resort in performing the job responsibilities.

There are considerable resort liability issues in failing to perform the job responsibilities. Increased resort revenues from increased F&B sales and additional Resort business can result from high levels of performance in the job.
