What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a mid-level to senior-level engineer in the Kansas City office to perform various activities related to environmental consulting. You will have the opportunity to embrace teamwork, growth, and develop professionally.

You will have an opportunity for a leadership role in developing and mentoring younger staff in a growing office. Project responsibility will have a primary focus on solid waste management, including landfill gas, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other projects, which may require design, engineering, permitting, bid plans, and specifications, bid letting, construction, and operations support. Experience in general civil engineering work which is not landfill-specific, is acceptable. Experience in general environmental work – Phase I's, Phase II's, stormwater permitting, SPCC Plans, etc. are also a plus.

How you can make an impact

• Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste assignment areas and related fields.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications, or work with a team of engineers to complete this work.
• Independently decide on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plan and coordinate work, and represent the company at meetings and conferences.
• Direct fieldwork including surveys/data gathering, CQA for soil and geosynthetic material installations, inspections, etc.
• Complete or direct others in office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, grading, profiles and volumes using Civil 3D, mathematical calculations, report writing, site plans and facility diagrams, permit applications, engineering plans and specifications, bid letting, etc.
• Pursue business development opportunities including meetings with clients and industry-related conferences/trade shows.
• Review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
• 20% travel expected

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution required.
• 8-20 Years of Relevant Experience required.
• Valid Driver's License with a driving record in good standing.

Pay range for this position is $70,000 to $120,000 depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
