SCS Engineers is Hiring a Field Technician II Near Brook, IN

What we are looking for

As a Field Technician II at SCS Engineers, you will have a working knowledge of the terminology, processes, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) of various environmental control systems. You will report to a senior-level supervisor, such as a Project Superintendent or a Project Manager.

How you can make an impact

  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to operate and maintain gas collection system on a cost-effective basis to keep systems operating and in compliance with different prescribed operating parameters and goals, including:
    • Routine wellfield balancing and maintenance
    • Routine blower / flare operations
    • Condensate management system operations and maintenance
    • Surface emissions monitoring
  • Working knowledge of and compliance with SCS policies and procedures, with a primary focus on:
    • The SCS Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) as it pertains to the SCS Health & Safety program.
    • The SCS Quality Management System as it pertains to the quality of our work; and,
    • The SCS Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics as they pertain to our behavior as employee owners at SCS.
  • Takes on more responsibility when working with senior staff in the planning and execution of assigned tasks, including daily Crew Activity Plans (CAP), monitoring, and/or adjustment of various environmental control system components.
  • Performs moderate-level maintenance and repairs of various environmental control system components.
  • Conducts field observations/actions and reports those observations/actions by way of field notes and daily logs. Under the direction of a supervisor, may prepare verbal and written client communications.
  • Utilize field instruments to measure required environmental control system data, including calibration and proper care and handling of field instruments.
  • Performs environmental sampling using collection canisters and Tedlar bags and is trained in the preparation of chain of custody documents for shipment.
  • Conducts preliminary review of collected data with oversight from supervisor. Required to communicate review of data to a supervisor or other designee for further direction.
  • Performs operational adjustments to environmental control system components in conjunction with the results of preliminary data reviews.
  • Utilize the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials to maintain and repair environmental control system components.
  • Assists Laborers, Field Technician I, Senior Field Technicians, or other staff with removal and servicing of landfill liquids pumps.
  • Provide limited direction to vendors or subcontractors following authorization by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of environmental control system OM&M experience is required.
  • Working knowledge in the use of various computer/technology skills including Smartphones, Tablets, and Microsoft Office Programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing is required.
  • Must meet physical requirements and pass a human performance evaluation (HPE).
    • Physical requirements include driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting, and carrying equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), hand excavation/digging (using shovels/picks), carrying, and climbing ladders, operating manlifts and working from man lifts, operating electric tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions.

The pay range for this position is $24 to $27 depending on experience and location. This does not include potential bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
