Purpose

Provide financial and strategic advice, and capital raising assistance to public and private corporations, financial sponsors and other private capital providers who traffic and/or are interested in selected industries while ensuring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


What You’ll Do

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Relationship management and/or client coverage for transaction structuring and execution, as well as general corporate finance activities (e.g., financial modeling analysis and review, valuations, advisory).
  • Responsible for traditional mergers & acquisition activities, equity capital raising transaction origination and execution.
  • Supervises execution process, including full review of marketing materials, oversight of junior resources and completion of mandates.
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Generate M&A, ECM, DCM and other investment and corporate banking ideas for broad group of clients, including upstream US oil & gas clients and global clients with interest in US oil & gas
  • Lead execution of M&A assignments for same group of clients
  • Drive thoughtful & occasionally provocative intellectual content in sector
  • Support other areas of bank with key clients, as appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with MD & Head - International Energy and MD& Head – Clean Energy Tech both on client-facing business and in managing the junior investment banking teams


What You’ll Bring

  • Deep knowledge of corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt capital raising transactions
  • Strong knowledge of energy industry
  • Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities
  • Required to be registered with applicable securities: Series 79, 63, 24


Work Arrangement:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Frequent domestic and some international travel is required for client calls.
