Scion Nonprofit Staffing, a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct a search for a Directing Attorney for immediate hire with a reputable nonprofit devoted to providing free comprehensive legal services to vulnerable populations located in Los Angeles, CA! This is a Full Time, Direct Hire, and mostly remote opportunity.

***This role is mostly remote, but there will be times you are required to be in office for business needs. Free parking is available onsite!***

As the Directing Attorney, you will oversee a team of 12 staff which includes of attorneys and support staff. The legal team services Senior Centers and Medical Centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee program workflows such as delegating cases and tasks as well as identifying areas of improvement for case handling procedures.
• Supervise legal tasks performed by staff including intake and client representation, reviewing legal work quality, conducting case reviews, and resolving client- and case-related issues.
• Lead and perform staff management tasks such as recruiting and hiring operations, onboarding/offboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Work with the Grants Team to secure development opportunities, grant opportunities, and track & report grants deliverables.
• Develop legislative and regulatory proposals related to program work.
• Establish metrics related to pro bono and volunteer participation as well as develop opportunities to train and mentor pro bono attorneys and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 2 current years of practicing law in California with a valid law license required.
• 3-5 years of experience related to elder law topics or civil legal services.
• 3 years of managerial experience within the legal field.
• Experience with managing grants or the ability to learn.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
