Job Description:

The Training Coordinator and User Liaison leads a variety of training and user readiness activities in support of the Geostationary Geospatial Operational Environmental Satellites-R Series (GOES-R) Satellite Program.

Job Requirements

• Plan, coordinate and execute all facets of GOES-R satellite application training, such as seminars, short courses, and workshops, at a variety of conferences and events. Includes but not limited to researching appropriate conference/event, course logistics, coordinating subject matter experts and conference coordinators contributions, generating and revising course materials, creating/tracking/managing course feedback, providing course summary and facilitating event debriefs. Events can be virtual, in-person or hybrid, either in the US or internationally.
• Conduct communications and outreach to spread awareness of events, conferences, outreach opportunities and upcoming plans in NOAA to better plan for GOES-R seminars, Short Courses, workshops and other training/user events.
• Chair satellite training working group(s). Plan and facilitate recurring coordination meetings and calls, develop agendas, track actions.
• Represent GOES-R PRO at a variety of NOAA and external stakeholders working groups with GOES-R product training concerns. Participate in cross-functional teams across a wide range of programs, offices and agencies, including science teams and user groups.
• Support management/coordination of cooperative institute training grants as requested.

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with satellite remote sensing science products. Prefer prior experience with training, communications and outreach for NOAA, NASA or another scientific organization.
• Spanish language skills are beneficial.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science or another related physical science required.
• Familiarity with GOES-R satellite product production processes.
• Master's degree or above is highly desired.
