School Administrative Unit 70 is Hiring an Anticipated Finance Clerk - SAU Office Near Hampshire, NH

We are seeking a Finance Clerk to join our team to help ensure the district’s accounting procedures run smoothly. Responsibilities include providing customer service to the building staff, processing bi-weekly payroll, accounts payable/receivable, annual audit compliance, processing district deposits, verifying invoices and performing account reconciliations as needed. The finance clerk works with our finance team to ensure our organization’s expenditures are accurate and our accounting practices are standardized across the organization. A successful candidate should be mathematically and analytically minded, demonstrate accuracy in their work, demonstrate detailed knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes, and be able to quickly identify financial discrepancies. We also expect you to be trustworthy and possess excellent communication skills. Candidates should be able to assist colleagues and vendors by providing polite and professional assistance via phone, mail, and e-mail, and generally being a helpful and positive presence in the workplace. 

Pay range is $22-$25 per hour. Position starts June 3, 2024, open until filled.

POSITION TITLE: FINANCE CLERK - SAU OFFICE

General Purpose:

The Finance Clerk has responsibility for day-to-day processing of computerized and manual accounting transactions. These will include payroll and accounts payable transactions as well as a wide variety of accounting items. The position requires the ability to successfully communicate with associated entities daily.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:

  • Confer regularly with administrative offices at each of the schools to exchange information and investigate and resolve discrepancies or problems
  • Provide training and assistance to building level faculty and other staff related to the accounting and financial software and systems ensuring accuracy and compliance. Report software issues to IT and work in conjunction with them to ensure productivity
  • Processing and payment of purchase orders, payment requests and related procedures/problems always monitoring transactions/statements for accuracy and compliance with policies
  • Preparation of vendor checks for mailing
  • Filing of paid bills and vouchers
  • Process payroll and paycheck distribution, upload ACH files to the appropriate bank accounts
  • Assists Information Technology with vendor communication, general departmental questions and purchase order maintenance
  • Assists with preparation of documents for audits
  • Assist in maintaining a professional, friendly, positive and respectful work atmosphere with an emphasis on teamwork and provide effective and timely direct service to school and district stakeholders as needed or requested
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives
  • Any and all other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred or relevant experience
  • Two to Four (2-4) years of relevant experience

  • Ability to successfully multitask within the role
  • Ability to accurately and expeditiously type correspondence, reports and memoranda according to standard business practices

  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks
