Job Description:

The Knoxville, TN office is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer with a background in geotechnical engineering and/or hydraulics and water resources for a staff level position to support our growing business. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply professional principles and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. 
  • Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, seepage analyses and stability analyses and geotechnical studies in support of dam designs.
  • Collect geotechnical and instrumentation data and measurements in the field.
  • Provide support on preparation of technical reports and proposals.
  • Ability to travel and work in the field is required.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering (or related) from an ABET accredited program and 0-2 years of related professional experience. 
  • Successful completion of the EIT. 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Excel spreadsheets and GIS software is a plus, but not required. These programs are used extensively, so a willingness to learn them is a must.
  • Knowledge of earth pressures and retaining walls and slope stability evaluations is a plus, but not required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and self-motivation to grow professionally.

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
