MACHINE OPERATOR- 1st Shift

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Reports To: Production Manager
Work Schedule: 4- 10 hour shifts
8:00am - 6:30pm - Mon-Thurs
POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Operator Level 1 operates CNC machines to fabricate parts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Understand and adhere to approved work instructions for specific tasks.
- Prepares for the job by checking for correct and complete tooling, checking oil and coolant levels, checking chip conveyor, and stocking up supplies.
- Cycle machine(s) by loading parts using tools to tighten/loosen fixtures.
- Effectively utilizes various manual inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, gauge pins, indicators, etc.).
- Ability to accurately read and interpret print specifications.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
- Reads inspection prints; performs quality inspections of machined products and documents results.
- Verbally communicates with co-workers regarding production runs.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
- Check machinery tools by verifying height and adjusting by using the height gauge or precision measuring devices.
- Completes and maintains paperwork.
- Uses CAPS machine to retrieve tools.
- Problem solve and trouble shoot issues with a focus on prevention, such as when tools need to be changed.
- Prepares for the next shift by cleaning the work area and prepping supplies.
- Other required tasks as assigned.

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent; technical school degree (preferred)
Experience: One year of previous CNC machine operation experience (preferred)
