The Job

The Senior Director, Software Engineer, also known as, Senior Director, Software Engineering and Enterprise Architecture, will lead and manage the Software engineering teams to infuse innovation, reusability, and industry best practices for our application development and automation teams. Expert on the latest technologies, tools and processes leveraging cloud, AI, and Agile methodologies to promote improved communication, integration, and collaboration for enhanced software development productivity. Role is also accountable for managing the Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (COE).

You Will

  • The Senior Director, Software Engineer, also known as, Senior Director, Software Engineering and Enterprise Architecture, will collaborate on establishing the Software Engineering strategy and lead the delivery of the roadmap, which includes managing custom application development, integration, and RPA solutions to follow SDLC and Agile development methodology.
  • Lead a blended team of QA testers and , MSFT development stack including PowerApps, Python, .NET, SSIS, EDI and RPA employees and offshore developers to deliver on projects from the IT Portfolio and Strategic roadmaps while supporting maintenance and break-fix.
  • Manage the team to their commitments on schedules and timelines, while tracking the team’s velocity and burn down. Leverages software engineering metrics and best practices in managing quality delivery and agility.
  • Sets overarching enterprise architecture strategy and standards, partnering with delivery team architecture to define our future state architecture.
  • Acts as the resident expert on best practices and standards for the Microsoft development stack, RPA, eDI HL7, ANSI, and FHIR standards.
  • Collaborate to develop and lead the Development Operations (DevOps) strategy to ensure SDLC controls, quality software deployments and overall application health and performance. Establish expertise for the development and quality assurance teams.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, tools and software engineering best practices, maintaining a team that is operating on the leading edge of software engineering. 
  • Actively support the achievement of SCAN’s Vision and Goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science preferred
  • ITIL Certification preferred
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred
  • 5 years of leading or managing software teams based on the Microsoft technology stack.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on architecture and solution design experience
  • Prior experience as a hands-on programmer or developer
  • Experience in working within large dynamic enterprise environments managing a blended onshore/offshore of 8 team members.
  • Strong background working within a Cloud (Azure DevOps) driven environment with CI/CD and large data backend systems
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools & framework
  • Experience with web service and API integration is required
  • Experience with API management, HL7, ANSI, and FHIR standards are preferred
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards and best practices
  • Detailed knowledge of Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, Portfolio and other agile tools
  • Proven ability to manage multiple technology projects or releases concurrently
  • Thought leader on the Microsoft Technology Stack. Has demonstrated ability to lead a Strategic Roadmap.
  • Solid understanding of Change Management processes.
  • Healthcare payor experience
  • Self-starter, quality and service oriented-minded; works with little supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills; Ability to multi task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff, within and external to the organization to achieve goals.
  • Skilled at motivating and inspiring individuals, teams, and drawing influence from business stakeholders.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Able to adapt to changes in priorities and assignments quickly and efficiently; flexible with project assignments.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
