Job Summary:
The Millwright will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation of industrial machines used in manufacturing and production operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensures proper operation of large industrial equipment such as power generators, turbines, mining devices, assembly line machinery, and machinist tools.
· Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust machines.
· Ensures machines perform to specifications by conducting tests; modifies and fine tunes machines.
· Operates engine lathe to adjust machine parts to dimensional specifications.
· Disassembles or dismantles machines.
· Gathers and assembles parts for repairs or modifications based on blueprints.
· Troubleshoots and repairs machines including when unexpected issues arise.
· Performs preventive maintenance makes repairs on older machines.
· Provides advice and recommendations to management concerning new machinery.
· Plans and facilitates installation of new or refurbished machinery, which may include building platforms and foundations.
· Conducts safety inspections of facilities.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules, and laws.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma required; vocational school or Associate’s degree in related field highly preferred.
· At least two years of experience required; four years of successful apprenticeship training preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
· Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.
· Visual acuity to properly inspect and modify large and detailed portions of machinery.
· Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate machines.
