SB Ballard is Hiring a Marketing Director Near Virginia, VA

S.B. Ballard Construction Company, a leading General Contractor/Construction Manager servicing the Mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA with offices in Richmond and Harrisonburg, is seeking an experienced Marketing Director to lead and oversee marketing strategies and efforts to strengthen the company’s market position and achieve desired business and growth goals. The Marketing Director will develop year-long strategic plans, create and execute campaigns, manage budgets and lead projects and team members and provide strategic leadership, from a market and product perspective, to the management team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for the annual marketing plan, strategy, and team strengthening
  • Drive the implementation of marketing campaigns that meet business objectives
  • Direct and support market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data for short- and long-term market forecasts and reports
  • Lead a diverse team of talent in a demanding environment with high performance expectations while developing and managing an annual department budget
  • In conjunction with the Operations and Business Development teams, develop the strategy and create the message for presentations
  • Coach the teams for successful oral presentations as well as RFQ and RFP processes
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and submitting RFQ and RFP proposals
  • Incumbent is expected to attend EDA, City Council and School Board Meetings as well as coordinating/attending pre-bid meetings when necessary
  • Manage the strategic pursuit lifecycle including oversight of materials developed during pursuit
  • Oversee the implementation of the advertising, public relations, and marketing strategy
  • Direct all mass and social media marketing including company website maintenance, corporate branding, and special events coordination
  • Work with internal and external business partners to support the design, development and compliance of marketing collateral including advertising, proposals, and presentations
  • Continuously develop the strategic initiatives to support the team’s efforts including informational packets, proposals, and presentations
  • Drive the development of targeted content that aligns with the S. B. Ballard way
  • Lead brand perception research and leverage other research available to refine objectives and strategies; and to evaluate effectiveness and optimize performance for team
  • Define key performance indicators, and meet and exceed performance targets
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of the performance of marketing campaigns, events and digital marketing efforts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Present findings to senior management team to support business plan development, forecasting and future implementation
  • Utilize assessment results to decrease marketing spend
  • Develop a deep understanding of the construction industry and its changing market dynamics for strategic planning and growth
  • Provide great F.U. – FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Be a Communicator – minimize email correspondence and focus on in-person and on the phone communications
  • A self-starter and leader with the initiative, skill, and personal commitment required to concurrently manage multiple projects and details and bring tasks and projects to full completion
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Be a team player and collaborator/hands on participant on each project until the end
  • Ability to prepare written documentation and proposal requests
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel a must) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
  • A solid working knowledge of desktop publishing software and graphics programs (Adobe Creative Suite), word processing programs (Microsoft Word) and presentation software (PowerPoint)
  • A working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, etc.
  • Must be currently residing within commuting distance of S. B. Ballard’s main office in Virginia Beach, VA.
  • This is an in-person, on-site position – no telecommuting
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field required. Most beneficial prior work or education experience would be:
    • Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Construction Management
    • Degree in Follow Up – Follow-up skills are essential to succeed in this position
    • Construction field experience
    • Military Pre-Quals experience
