Saybr Contractors, Inc. is a $30 million, full-service general contractor with more than 27 years of experience performing vertical and horizontal construction throughout the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a Controller to join our growing team and support us in our mission to build relationships and deliver exceptional projects.

The right person for this job will have strong administrative, accounting, and management skills with previous experience in the construction industry. A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition is essential, along with an understanding of both public and private sector accounting requirements. A knowledge of our accounting system, ComputerEase, is preferred, but not a requirement.

This is more than a bookkeeping position and not just a supervisory role. We are seeking a hands-on, proactive, detail-oriented person with serious accounting skills that is able to dig into complex accounting issues with confidence. Duties and responsibilities:

• Manage our team through the monthly closing process and provide month-end financial statements. This includes preparation and distribution of the monthly WIP schedule.
• Compile key performance indicators based on budget goals on a weekly basis.
• Assist our management team in developing financial plans and strategies for the overall company, as well as for joint venture companies and investments.
• Oversee accounting personnel and resources for maximum efficiency.
• Interact with division managers to provide high-level financial guidance, as well as help solve specific problems.
• Work with project managers to review budget deviations and job profitability.
• Review all regulatory filings, including payroll taxes, sales tax, unemployment, workers compensation.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs for annual financial statement reviews and federal and state income tax returns.
• Maintain good working relationships with our banker, bonding company, and insurance company.

Education and Experience:

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required.
• Five plus years of experience in construction accounting required.
• Seven plus years of experience in financial management required.
• Experience with joint venture accounting preferred.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $125,000 per year. In addition, Saybr offers comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage following one month of employment. Employees are eligible to participate in the company’s 401k/retirement plan following three months of employment.
