Retirement Associate: 401(k) Success Specialist, Parsippany NJ

To support our growing Retirement Plan practice, SAX Wealth Advisors is seeking a qualified individual with strong communication skills, a desire to help people and a hustle mentality who is eager to make a direct impact and thrive in a client facing advisory role. This position provides significant room for professional growth over time, and is a great opportunity for recent college graduates looking for a meaningful, long term role at a growing firm.

We are actively seeking a full-time Retirement Plan Associate to work in the Parsippany, NJ office. This is an on-site position.

Summary:

The Retirement Associate (RA) will play an integral role in the continued growth of SAX Wealth Advisors’ Retirement Plan practice. Reporting to the Director of Retirement Plans, the RA will assist in servicing the needs of our plan sponsor clients, help manage important external and internal relationships, and will actively participate in the success of our clients’ retirement plan programs. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a strong working relationship with clients, platform providers, and internal partners within SAX. This will be accomplished through ongoing communication, excellent proactive service, and by providing outstanding operational support. Through the role, the RA will have the opportunity to learn the various aspects of the dynamic retirement plan marketplace.

This individual will work to help retirement plan savers take full advantage of their 401(k) plan benefits and reduce their financial stress. Through ongoing engagement and responsiveness, the RA will creatively drive increased 401(k) participation amongst our clients’ employees within the plans we serve. This will be accomplished through onsite and virtual meetings, as well as various other means to help participants take action to save for retirement. The RA will become a primary contact for our clients’ employee 401(k) participants.

The ideal candidate would also be capable of assisting in new business opportunities as appropriate, building presentation decks, and expanding upon our external retirement materials suite. This position provides significant opportunity for a candidate with initiative to make an immediate and meaningful impact.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely responses and support to 401(k) plan sponsor client & participant inquiries
  • Coordinate with service providers including recordkeepers, TPAs, and other vendor partners to ensure Retirement client and participant satisfaction
  • Support client relationship management efforts, becoming a trusted advisor partner
  • Proactive engagement of 401(k) participants within the RPS book of business, establishing and implementing outreach campaigns to drive increased retirement savings
  • Diligent recording of client communication and use of CRM software
  • Collaborating with internal team members to ensure the highest level of service for day-to-day client needs


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provides on-demand and scheduled reports to advisors and clients, as requested
  • Participates in and contributes to team meetings, as assigned
  • Maintains fiduciary files for the RPS book of business
  • Records and reviews monthly & quarterly reports for accuracy and timely action
  • Tracks and completes any special projects throughout the year
  • Helps to manage new client onboarding processes
  • Engages in business development efforts as needed to support the firm’s strategic priorities
  • Supports the RPS practice’s social media and content outreach engagements
  • Helps develop and maintain RPS practice’s prospect and client facing materials

Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the preferred areas: finance, economics, business administration, mathematics

  • Ability to obtain Series 65 within the first 6 months – 1 year of employment
  • Interest/willingness to pursue CFP, CFA, AIF, CRPS, and/or other Retirement Industry designations


Other Qualifications:

  • Interest in learning and growing within the financial / retirement plan industry, specifically educating clients on retirement plans and 401k benefit options
  • Must have initiative, drive, be organized and efficient in a demanding work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with others, and communicate with various personality types / levels of expertise
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly switch priorities when necessary to manage deadlines
  • High personal standards and sound judgement
  • Ability to think critically and to process complex financial scenarios
  • Open and receptive to feedback and coaching
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail

Specialized Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Operating systems & Microsoft Office
  • Experience and interest in creatively utilizing MS PowerPoint Preferred
