Tax Manager

Tax Managers work and communicate effectively with tax staff and clients to enhance their understanding of the client’s business and tax issues. They demonstrate an awareness of current business developments and the ability to determine the impact to a client’s business.

Tax Manager Responsibilities & Objectives:

• Know and understand the firm’s policies and procedures
• Possess a working knowledge of firm technology and time and billing software
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the client’s business that extends beyond tax-related aspects
• Recognize problems, assess alternatives and recommend solutions
• Effectively and appropriately delegate assignments to promote an environment of mentoring and team work
• Participate in and document the formal review/evaluation process with staff in a timely manner
• Instruct and facilitate internal training
• Work closely with clients to meet expectations and ensure that deadlines are met
• Manage client accounts including billing, fee analysis, and collections
• Review all work before submission to Tax Partner
• Work with other managers to ensure proper deployment of the tax staff
• Manage, develop, train, mentor, and assess performance of tax staff on projects

Tax Manager

Tax Manager Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent license required
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of six years of progressive tax accounting experience in public accounting, with 1-2 years supervising a team of three or more, or 1-2 years of experience in a Manager role with a public accounting firm
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
• Ability to lead and guide projects on a timely basis
• Proficiency in Engagement software or similar and Microsoft Office software programs, particularly Excel
• Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills
• Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines
