Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools is Hiring a Leadership Development Director Near Savannah, GA

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Leadership Development Director is tasked with developing and implementing key actions to build leadership capacity throughout the organization. This position involves the creation, implementation, and oversight of programs designed to build leadership capacity. The Director of Leadership Development works closely with the Deputy Superintendent of Strategy, Innovation, and Performance and district's executive leaders to ensure that leadership development initiatives are aligned with the broader district strategies enhancing overall school performance and fostering innovation.

REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent of Strategy, Innovation, and Performance
SALARY SCHEDULE: 250SL supplement
WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education Level: Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred: Education Specialist or earned doctorate

2. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
  • Valid Georgia Professional Teaching certification in Education.
  • Eligible for Georgia Leadership certification (Tier II).
  • Must possess extensive experience in the field of public education to include successful classroom teaching experience and principal experience.
  • Must possess budget planning experience.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and current issues in the provision of public education programs and services.
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education program.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrative staff, parents, guardians, the community, and central office administrative staff.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Must possess experience supervising and providing performance feedback professional staff, managing budgets, and developing and interpreting student population projections and teacher allocation.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills in required.
  • Must possess the ability to speak effectively before large groups and high-level executives.
  • Proficient in the use of technology
  • Proven ability to communicate well with parents and staff.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, administrative work, and special projects.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and school administration.
  • Must possess the following skill-based competencies to satisfactorily perform the function of the position: analyzing; effective listening; facilitating meetings; and guiding others.
Preferred : Experience in a large urban system characterized by multi- ethnic and cultural diversity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Craft and propel the strategic direction for district and school leadership development, ensuring alignment with the district's strategic priorities related to students, stakeholders, employees, and stewardship.
  • Design and deliver innovative comprehensive leadership development programs, tailored to the needs of district leaders at various stages of their careers.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationship with Network Superintendents, and other executive leaders to identify leadership competencies needed to drive achieving strategic priorities and improving district performance.
  • Create coaching and development opportunities for various district and school leaders, including principals and aspiring leaders, with a focus on cultivating strategic thinking, innovation, and the ability to drive performance improvements.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, leadership development organizations, and thought leaders to enhance the quality and impact of leadership development programs.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms for evaluating the impact of leadership development initiatives on district and school performance, leadership effectiveness, and the district's strategic priorities.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to adjust programs based on trends and patterns based on data.
  • Lead and inspire a team dedicated to leadership development, ensuring they are equipped with the resources and professional development opportunities needed to excel in their roles.
  • Manage the budget allocated for leadership development efforts, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve the greatest impact on district and school leadership capabilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 250 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience. 250SL supplement New 04-2024
