Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools is Hiring an Accounting/Human Resources Specialist Near Savannah, GA

Savannah Classical Academy Charter School is a Locally Authorized K-12 Public Charter school and operates autonomously from the county public school system.

Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) is seeking candidates that are highly skilled and passionate about their content area. SCA is a K-12 public charter school. The 2024-2025 school year will be the 12th year of our operation. Once fully enrolled (Fall 2027) SCA will have 640 students in grades K-12.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for conducting routine accounting tasks and assisting with advanced accounting and Human Resources tasks.

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
SALARY SCHEDULE: $50,000.00-$65,000.00
WORK DAYS: 219

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Education Level: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with recognized accounting credential
Preferred :

  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
    • Three years relevant experience in an accounting department or accounting firm
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
    • Knowledge of internal controls
    • Knowledge of grants management
    • Proven ability to prepare basic financial reports
    • Proven ability to use complex financial systems
    • Experience with mainframe financial systems
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Access as well as other bookkeping software.
    • Experience with human resources functions and processess in a business office environment
Preferred:
  • Experience in governmental finance and benefits programs
  • Experience with varuous financial software system
  • Experience in the human resources department of large organization
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    1. Responds to staff and others in a professional and courteous manner regarding employment or concerns. Refers to other staff if necessary.
    2. Enters journal entries and maintain the journal binders for department staff.
    3. Assists auditors and accountants in collecting information and data for the annual audit process.
    4. Maintains various financial spreadsheets.
    5. Assists with the preparation of any assigned routine accounting-related reports and financial statements.
    6. Maintains complete and accurate records of all transactions, and organizes the records so that other staff can research situations as necessary.
    7. Assists with the preparation of reimbursement requests and completion reports for grants.
    8. Assists with the support and follow-up activities of any independent auditors.
    9. Creates and maintains efficient documentation control and filing systems; routes and processes computer input/output documents; ensures the systematic review of records; performs general office duties.
    10. Maintains departmental supplies and storage area.
    11. Participates in ongoing continuing professional education.
    12. Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed.
    13. Ensures that all work assigned is completed in a timely and accurate manner
    14. Receives and reviews employee benefits information and forms to ensure accuracy and compliance with benefit regulations
    15. Assists employees with benefits enrollment and the annual open enrollment process
    16. Enters data concerning benefits in the HR/Payroll system, and confirms the accuracy of data and deductions
    17. Maintains businesslike and cordial relationships with staff members while maintaining the autonomy appropriate to position.
    1. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered "at will." The work calendar will normally be 219 days. Salary
