Savannah Chatham County Public School System is Hiring a 24 25 sy Near Savannah, GA

PRIMARY FUNCTION : This position is responsible for developing and promoting effective communications between the school, students, and their families, and the community served.

SALARY SCHEDULE : Teacher

WORK DAYS : 190

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Education Level : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred : Master's degree
  • Experience, Skill, and Certification :
  • Valid professional teaching certificate
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated effectiveness in handling difficult issues
  • Excellent personal organization and attention to detail including experience with coordinating large group activities and events, managing vendors, and handling related funds
  • Must have a flexible schedule to best address the needs of parents and community members

Preferred

  • Successful teaching experience
  • Leadership in community or service organizations
  • Valid certification as a guidance counselor
  • Teacher Support Specialist (TSS) endorsement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Promotes school in the community by building and maintaining positive relationships and communications that support the school’s efforts to increase student achievement.
  • Establishes and chairs a Family Community Action Team to develop, execute and assess a strategic plan for family engagement.
  • Develops and implements a Family Engagement Policy, Family-Community Action Plan, and Parent- School Compacts collaboratively with staff, families, students and other community members.
  • Establishes and operates a Family Resource Center and provide resources in a family friendly format and language.
  • Provides family training and communications in a family friendly format and language.
  • Provides staff development in effective methods for working with families.
  • Conducts and coordinates information and advisory meetings with students and their family related to building family capacity and academic achievement.
  • Coordinates the school’s volunteer program.
  • Organizes, facilitates, and / or conducts regular parent and community trainings, workshops, and activities that support family and / or student needs.
  • Collaborates with the school’s PTA , local, state and federal organizations.
  • Maintains and disseminates current information to students and families relating to transitioning to other grade levels or post-secondary education.
  • Utilizes professional resources of the school and community to assist students and families.
  • Collects, analyzes, and disseminates data related to the effectiveness of family engagement initiatives.
  • Organizes and maintains all the Title I family engagement documentation.
  • Attends professional development programs as appropriate or required.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students.
  • Partners with early childhood agencies such as Headstart, Pre-K, or private day care programs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will receive an annual contract. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience.

The normal work calendar will be 190 days.

This position is funded through Title I programs and is contingent on availability of funds.

NOTE : Evening and weekend duty is considered normal duty for this job. Neither supplemental pay nor compensatory time off for specific events will normally be available. Exempt, 05-19
