Savan Group is Hiring a Technical Project Manager Near Vienna, VA

Savan Group seeks a Technical Project Manager to support a federal government client with IT/technical records management initiatives. The Technical Project Manager will work with a variety of stakeholders, client leaders, and the Savan Group project team to develop integrated project and program plans, presentations, reporting methodologies, management dashboards, lessons learned, and risk reports. The Technical Project Manager will demonstrate proficiency in developing and maintaining project management artifacts and deliverables. This role will be reporting directly to the Call Order Project Lead, managing the team day-to-day, and communicating effectively internally and with business and technical clients daily. The Technical Project Manager will have demonstrated success in project planning and scheduling, risk and issue management, and performance reporting in both Agile and waterfall project environments. Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and sustainment of key project management artifacts to aid in the effective management of the project (e.g., project plan, integrated master schedule, risk register, action item tracker, staffing plans, performance reports, dashboarding, etc.) 
  • Support federal project leaders by making recommendations on how to improve the technical program management of ongoing and future development projects.
  • Help to translate Agile development terminology, artifacts, and outputs into a manner and vocabulary that can be understood by personnel who are better versed in waterfall methodology. 
  • Lead risk management and issue mitigation efforts for current and future instances
  • Help define and derive core requirements for various versions of internally developed software applications.
  • Track and provide quality assurance of contract deliverables and major work products, help identify and communicate major milestones, and proactively resolve project issues. 
  • Support the development of client options and recommendations to mitigate risk and promote a high-performing integrated federal/consulting team. 
  • Develop and maintain a high level of engagement with client leaders and stakeholders. 
  • Functions as a technical expert across multiple project efforts with the ability to communicate complex technical aspects to Government Leadership. 
  • Work with technical project lead to review application integration and document needed changes and/or best practices.
  • Lead discussion with federal clients around leveraging new technologies to design the future state of the technology records management solutions.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments. 
  • Prepare briefs for client leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate client meetings and working groups. 
  • Brief senior federal leaders and executives frequently with clarity and data-driven recommendations to enable the solutions to move forward on schedule. 
  • Understand and articulate milestones, dependencies, critical path actions, and risks. 
  • Support the BPA and Delivery Managers in identifying new business opportunities and work with clients and Savan Group leadership to propose innovative solutions that address and capture new opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience. 
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or professional scrum certification (e.g., PMI-ACP, CSM) 
  • 5 years of experience leading large software development projects. 
  • Expertise with Agile methodology (SAFe, Scrum, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and lead major software development projects. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience evaluating performance results and recommending major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing in a continuous integration and DevOps environment. 
  • Project Management experience in planning, estimating, resourcing, executing, monitoring, and managing information technology projects, preferably in technical areas such as: 
  • Business value-driven requirement gathering 
  • Agile software application development and modernization 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, execute, and monitor projects requiring compliance with: 
  • Software Project management frameworks and systems engineering lifecycles. 
  • Agile software development lifecycles 
  • Task-level cost and Schedule estimation, tracking, reporting and management
  • Demonstrated and validated ability to address corrective actions and to follow proper escalation protocols and procedures with technical monitors, COR, the IT organization, and the project sponsors.
  • Strong leadership skills to define requirements for project risks. 
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and customer service skills 
  • Previous Experience managing modernization projects for the Federal Government 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities for Public Trust or the ability to obtain public trust.
  • Ability to effectively complete individual tasks, work in a team environment, and be proactive with little guidance. 
  • U.S. Citizenship 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with records management 
  • Public Trust Clearance or higher
