About the job 

Are you someone that enjoys the idea of tackling new projects on a regular basis? Do you want to develop an in-depth knowledge of multiple products within SAS?

The Data Management division within SAS R&D is looking for an Associate Software Developer to join a new “Feature” team. Feature teams are not tied to specific products, instead they will focus on the highest priority features that are requested by product management. Projects will last for months at a time and allow the team members to be exposed to different areas of the SAS portfolio. This may involve contributing to projects outside of Data Management if that is our biggest need.

As an Associate Software Developer, you will:

• Design and develop high-quality, testable, scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
• Actively involve other project stakeholders (e.g., managers, developers, product managers) to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements.
• Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of tasks.
• Ensure quality through functional, unit and performance testing.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Software development experience developing system-level software
• Experience with one of the following development languages:
• Golang
• Java
• TypeScript / JavaScript
• Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• DBMS experience and SQL use
• Developing software for use in Kubernetes
• Familiarity with using Docker
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
• Developing software using sprints and other Agile practices
