Health and PE Teacher

Molalla River Middle School is actively recruiting a Health/PE teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

COVID-19 VACCINATION VERIFICATION

Molalla River School District requires all staff to be fully vaccinated effective October 18, 2021 unless a religious or medical exception is approved. New employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the time of hire. (Please contact Human Resources if you need more information regarding the approval of exceptions).

JOB GOALS:

Create a classroom environment which is safe and conducive to learning.
Implement instructional strategies and programs which meet the needs of a diverse student population.
Assist students in the acquisition of skills and knowledge necessary to achieve the State Benchmark Standards.
Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Holds an appropriate valid Oregon Elementary or Secondary Teaching license with the

appropriate endorsements in P.E. and Health.

Knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of adolescents.
Knowledge of best instructional and assessment practices in Physical Education and health.
Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
Possesses functional computer literacy and knowledge of how computers can assist instruction.
Maintains satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides instruction in Physical Education and Health utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
Implements instructional activities which will improve the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of the students.
In preparation for instruction, addresses both short- and long-term learning goals. Shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
Implements appropriate learning experiences to teach Health and Physical Education and links them to the "real" world situations and job fields.

Adapts and modifies instructional strategies and materials, as necessary, to support all students' academic progress and encourage active participation.
Supervises students in the locker room before and after the activity period.
Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and achievement of the instructional objectives and maintains records as required by law and district policy.
Provides coeducational learning opportunities.
Presents materials and activities in a positive manner so that students are motivated to lead healthy and active lives.
Uses a grading system which is consistent, fair and supportable.
Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement. .
Communicates to students and parents the level of student achievement and progress towards established classroom, district, and state standards.
Works constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of a student's behavior and academic success.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. Notifies and involves parents/guardians regarding a student's behavior as outlined in school and District policies.
Takes all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, material and facilities.
Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.

Performs such other tasks as maybe assigned by the Board or Administration.
