PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

We, at the Pittsburgh Supply Chain Management team under the Products & Innovation board area, cater to innovations across product areas like Inventory Optimization (IBP for Inventory), Demand Sensing (IBP for Demand) and DDMRP (IBP for Demand Driven Replenishment).

As a Senior Developer on the IBP team, you will be working on the development of SAP’s leading solution for Supply Chain Planning in the Cloud based on HANA. SAP has been the market leader in Enterprise Software for more than 40 years. Today, innovation continues to flourish at SAP with HANA in Memory Database at the core of the next generation of Enterprise Applications. The focus of the position is the development of a new module within the IBP Platform, but it can also extend to other modules that are also developed by our local teams in Pittsburgh like Demand Driven Replenishment, Inventory or Demand Sensing.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Work in a cross-functional implementation team and is responsible for development focusing on design, coding, testing and quality assurance of complex product features using ABAP, SAP GUI, ABAP Eclipse Development, AMDPs, HANA, HANA Studio, SQL Script, JavaScript

• Resolve complex issues within own area of expertise and support others in resolving issues

• Show initiative and drive topics to resolution in a high level of quality, speed, reliability, and efficiency

• Work closely together with others and share expertise to ensure product success

• Constantly improve own work methods to gain state-of-the-art agile software engineering skills

• Enhance skills beyond own core functional focus and work on other tasks for the benefit of the team

• Write unit tests for own code using AUNIT and review unit tests of colleagues on the team

• Write Automated Acceptance Tests in BDD style using Java, Cucumber and Selenium

• Create a detailed test design incl. test system landscape definition and product standards, prepare tests (customizing & master data), author and execute manual and/or automated tests

• Analyze test results and takes appropriate follow-up actions

• Proficient knowledge and technical competencies of relevant programming languages and related development tools and processes

• Share knowledge to help grow the capabilities of the team through presentations, mentoring, and coaching in your implementation team and product area

• Mentor and guide junior team members acting as a multiplier for the team

• Document code and test results

• Document root cause analysis, workarounds, and solutions on internal and customer incidents

• Support, provide maintenance and bug fixes on IBP DDR customer installations

• Analyze and improve performance in the execution of the IBP DDR module

• Analyze and debug code from other parts of the IBP Platform that directly or indirectly affect, create issues, or degrade performance in the IBP modules

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field

• Experience working with Databases, SQL and a programming with Database Scripting Languages like SQL Script

• Experience writing complex queries and tuning them for performance

• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and its fundamental principles

• At least 1 year of working experience designing and developing software with ABAP using OOP

• Working experience developing software with Java

• Working experience writing Unit Test

• Understanding of TDD and BDD

• Experience working in a SCRUM team

• Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving abilities expressing solutions in code

• Ability and desire to learn new technologies and skills, specifically SAP related technology like HANA and ABAP

• Experience debugging, diagnosing and fixing issues in own and peer’s code

• Skills working with HANA and writing SQL Script

• Working experience writing Automated Acceptance Tests in Java using Selenium

• Working experience developing and testing Web Applications with Java and JavaScript

• Working experience developing with Web Services (ODATA is a plus)

• Working experience with SAP Livecache

• Working experience with a Supply Chain solution

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 7 years of working experience developing Enterprise Applications
