Overview of the Team and Role

In the SAP.iO Venture Studio, we’re transforming the way SAP builds new businesses. We identify promising talent and ideas, invest between $750K and $2.5M in seed-stage capital, and scale the ventures over time.

You would be joining the SAP.iO team as the Head of Technology on a recently funded venture in the finance space. In this role, you will lead a small team of developers and grow it over time with the growth of the venture. You will be working closely with the GM and the broader Venture Studio ecosystem to bring the product vision to life.

In this role, you’ll iterate quickly with a small but high-energy team to help us to design and develop a scalable SaaS solution. You’ll manage the engineering team, set the technological vision, and execute this vision in a way that is secure, scalable, and effective. You will also own key decisions on what frameworks and infrastructure to use and will mentor and empower the developers on your team.

You should be hungry, ambitious, and be energized by helping customers solve their problems with technology. This is your opportunity to contribute to the growth of a new start-up, in a VC-style incubator, with the backing of one of the most impactful brands in enterprise software.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer programming or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Passion for early-stage product development. Previous experience in a start-up environment is a plus but not required
  • 5 years of the experience building complex, scalable, and secure web applications
  • Interest in managing and inspiring teams; previous management experience is a plus but not required
  • Experience building cloud-native applications using hyper-scale services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and PaaS environments (SAP Cloud Platform a plus)
  • Previous experience working on or building integrations with SAP ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of HTTP, Web APIs, and other core Web Technology concepts.
  • Expertise in Java and JavaScript (React).
  • Experience with DevOps
  • Sense for quality assurance and experience designing and implementing testing as part of the development process.
  • Effective communication skills, focusing on the presentation of technical information
  • Ability to operate autonomously. You will be in the driver’s seat of your work and must be willing and able to run with a high degree of independence.

WHAT YOU GET FROM US:

As one of the leaders of a seed-stage team, you will get to work in a start-up environment where you can lead your domain and drive many decisions independently. We also strive to support your skill development on a number of fronts, including world-class mentorship opportunities and a portfolio of Venture Studio workshops among other opportunities. Our goal is to grow your career as we grow this venture.
