Santa Fe South School is Hiring an ELL Teacher - 2nd-5th Grades Near Oklahoma, OK

Position Description

This position is for teacher that loves small groups. At our school this position operates much like a Reading Specialist with an emphasis in working on academic language acquisition and reading comprehension. If are an aspiring reading specialist, this could be a great fit. As a team of interventionis, we look at data and work with students needing extra support. We highly prefer a teacher who is bilingual and has experience administering WIDA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide evaluation and testing for non-English speaking and limited proficiency students.
  • Support general education teachers in providing instruction to ELL student appropriate to his/her level as determined by informal and formal assessments.
  • Maintain records for each student’s individual and academic instructional program.
  • Facilitate frequent and effective home-school communication by coordinating: conferences; written communication; other meetings/events; and administrative support for interpreting, translations, etc.
  • Provide referral to existing guidance and counseling as well as other support resources within the district where appropriate.
  • Provide assessment for newly arriving non-English speaking students.
  • Confer with classroom teachers regarding each student’s program.
  • Participate in in-service and teacher training provided by our school and district.
  • Meet with program director or ESL supervisor at regular intervals.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)

Job Summary:

Duties:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Provide a variety of learning experiences that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Use effective behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational program
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's development and progress
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required)
- State teaching certification or licensure (required)
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment
- Patience, compassion, and empathy for young learners
- Proficiency in math concepts for early childhood education
- Familiarity with child welfare and early intervention programs
