Santa Fe Independent School District is Hiring a DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY Near Santa Fe, TX

Primary Purpose:

Plan, implement, direct, and maintain district information and instructional technology systems. Coordinate closely with Curriculum and Instruction and Maintenance and Operations. Provide leadership and direction to technology department staff.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of computer network, hardware, and software applications
  • Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel; coordinate district function, implement policy and procedure
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Understanding of instructional technology needs

Experience:

  • Three or more years of experience in supervision and management of an information systems department for a large organization

Major Responsibilities and Duties


Leadership

  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and management for teams of technical professionals at various levels include director(s), managers, specialists, technicians, engineers and related support staff
  • Provide motivation and leadership focused on delivering on-time and under budget quality products and projects.
  • Oversee and control access to the security of the computing systems .
  • Direct and assist with support to ensure a high level of customer support and end-user knowledge
  • Provide leadership and guidance on projects, applications, equipment, stock inventory, production schedules, personnel and procedures
  • Attend meetings and provide leadership with vendors, administrators, principals, and various
  • Monitor and maintain reporting systems so data quality can be monitored and managed by business owners and stakeholders
  • Stay informed on latest federal & state Cybersecurity laws and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with District leadership and peers to design, develop and deliver on District projects and priorities
  • Develop and implement an incident response
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of information and technology services and implement changes based on the findings.
  • Oversee and direct personnel in software management
  • Develop and maintain current instructional and learning practices through the use of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Provide input on various trainings to scaffold professional learning of all instructional employees through the use of a learning management system and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Work in coordination with Curriculum and Instructional department to provide instruction and facilitate learning for adults and students.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Assist in the updating of district policy and administrative

Budget and Inventory

  • Administer the information services and technology budget and ensure that programs are cost -effective and funds are managed wisely.
  • Compile zero-based budget and cost estimates based upon documented program
  • Participate in contract negotiations for computer hardware, software, maintenance, and related
  • Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware, software, and supplies; initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district
  • Approve and forward department invoices and purchase orders to accounting
  • Recommend the disposal and replacement of obsolete equipment when necessary

Personnel Management

  • Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in the technology
  • Develop training options and improvement plans to ensure exemplary operations in the information services and technology area.
  • Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure
  • Recruit, train, and supervise personnel and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
