Santa Fe Children's Museum is Hiring a FINANCE MANAGER Near Santa Fe, NM

Position Summary: The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial administration of SFCM including oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. This role leads the finance department and works collaboratively with the executive leadership team to provide education, training, and best practices to support museum and program operations. The Finance Manager will prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports for management information, decision making and facilitate annual audits of the organization’s financials. The Finance Manager will lead the organization in budget preparations.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

· Management of all accounting functions – accounts payable, accounts receivable, electronic banking, monthly reconciliations, close of month-end and year-end books.

· Prepare financial statements for review by the Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board of Directors

· Preparation and management of annual audit

· Manager of all payroll functions; administration of all benefits.

· Prepare budgets for grant applications; track grant expenditures and prepare financial reports and invoices for grants.

· Prepare annual organizational budget, lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management.

· Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies, and current accounting standards.

· Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures.

· Oversee management functions of SFCM Gift Store including sales tracking and reporting, purchasing and periodic manual inventory.

Leadership

· Partner with Executive Director to drive both operations and strategic initiatives forward within staffing and budgetary resources.

· Provide strategic recommendations to the Executive Director and leadership team to improve the financial and organizational management of the organization.

  • Serve as liaison to the board finance committee, coordinate materials for meetings and facilitate the conversation with both the finance committee and the full board.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure financial, budgetary, and organizational goals are met.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or strong equivalent .

· Minimum 5 years in a finance department with nonprofit organizations with evolving experience, 7 years is preferred.

· 5 years’ experience with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online accounting software in a nonprofit environment, 7 years is preferred.

· Expertise in administration of grant contracts, awards, funder reporting.

· Ability and hands-on experience to lead audit activities, reporting, budget development, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.

· Exceptional and advanced technical and software skills.

· Proficiency in Google Suite; comfortable working collaboratively with teammates in cloud-based functions.

· Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel as well as all Microsoft 365 apps.

· Experience/proficiency with Blackbaud database is preferred, extensive experience with databases of any kind desired.

· Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.

· Excellent oral and written English communications skills.

· High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.

· Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams to solve problems creatively.

· Positive, team-oriented attitude.
