Santa Clara Pueblo Administrative is Hiring a Plumbers Apprentice Near Espanola, NM
Under general supervision of the Head Plumber. This position is an entry level position which require the
candidate to have the patience and ability to learn, take direction well and positively.
This job description is illustrative only of the responsibilities performed by this position and is not all
inclusive.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with supervisor and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders
- Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of plumbing systems in
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Loads, and unloads building material, equipment, tools, pipes and other materials as needed.
- Lifts, carriers, transports, and holds building materials, tools and supplies.
- Maintains tools by keeping them clean and in good working condition at all times.
- Uses hand tools to thread or glue pipe, secure, or align to meet construction or repair needs.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays and after hours as the position requires on-call
- Works in and around homes and businesses therefore must maintain confidentiality of the home
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as required.
- Other duties as assigned to enhance skills and abilities and performance.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
- Able to understand and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to learn and understand areas of construction, rehabilitation, reparation and creation of
businesses.
- Motivated and willing to learn.
- Knowledge of safe operation of hand & power tools.
- Some computer experience using various MS Software; training will be provided if needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
- Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License and be insurable through the Tribe's carrier.
- Must not have any DUl's/DWl's convictions within a five (5) year timeframe from any Tribe, State of
- Pass a background check.
- Must past a drug/alcohol screening
- Minimum experience or training in plumbing.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, to
handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach wing hands
and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move more than 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly
exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles,
outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed
to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually
loud.
