Are you detail-oriented? Do you want to be challenged with designs that provide solutions to our nation's air and ground defenses? SCI Technology's Mechanical Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer that desires to be challenged and knows that their designs truly matter.

Position Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Purpose

Designs and analyzes electro-mechanical systems for SCI's Aircraft and Tactical Products Group. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Generates 3D models of new designs, translates 3D models into appropriately toleranced 2D drawings, evaluates initial mechanical parts and assemblies for integration with electronic circuit boards and functional testing.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

• Developing new products and product enhancements in a cross-functional team design environment

• Innovative mechanical design and rapid prototyping of advanced electro-mechanical systems

• Design simulation and analysis for thermal management, fluid flow, structural integrity, and high vibration and shock environments

• Design documentation

• Technical communication with internal and external customers

Education and Experience

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university, MS degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

• 8 – 12 years experience in product design.

• Experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Catia, or similar 3D solid modeling CAD software.

• Experience in 2D drawing generation from solid models is required. Experience in interpreting GD&T and designing using GD&T is preferred.

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for both structural, vibration, and shock analysis using Nastran or other similar simulation software is desired.

• Thermal and Computational Fluid Dynamics experience using FloEFD or other similar simulation software is desired.

• Experience in rapid prototyping utilizing 3D printers, machining, and sheet metal is desired.

• Experience in the mechanical design, testing, and construction of military aircraft avionics is highly desired.

• Designing to comply with applicable sections of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1472, and similar MIL standards is highly desired.

• Designing for reduction of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is highly desired.
