Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Purpose

*This is a fully on-site position located in Houston, Texas*

Sanmina oil and gas engineering team in Houston, Texas is looking for a SW development individual contributor. Our team provides design & development services for the telecommunication, medical, industrial, energy, auto, optical, and consumer industries. Challenges are always new and require a flexible and inquisitive mindset to adapt. The SW/FW developer must be capable of coding and testing as well as contributing and coordinating with a small team of developers for multiple varied projects. The SW/FW engineer will act as a subject matter expert and participate in proposal responses by architecting SW solutions and estimating development costs.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

• Must have excellent experience in multiple areas of software architecture, development, and test;
• Proficiency, experience, and familiarity with several of these Linux, VHDL, U-boot, QNX, C and C , Tcl/Tk, LabVIEW, LabWidows, and embedded software development & design;
• Be able to technically contribute a small team of developers and direct their development;
• Have excellent communication skills, customer facing and internal risk communication;
• Have experience with different programming languages & operating systems;
• Have experience integrating available APIs, demo code, etc. to speed time to market;
• Have familiarity with digital circuit interfaces to microcontrollers and FPGAs;
• Have experience in different markets / industries;
• Be a quick learner and adapt to new technologies, industries, and challenges quickly;
• Demonstrate initiative and quality improvement;
• Function independently.
• Embedded SW development & test (small micros to embedded processors to large enterprise systems);
• Lead and contribute to a team of SW engineers;
• Work with multi-disciplinary team of engineers from multiple locales;
• Architect SW solutions for product development, manufacturing/functional test, capital equipment, etc.;
• Determine hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design;
• Participate in project bids (project cost estimation, SW dev architecture and implementation planning);
• Assist with SW-HW integration and system test;
• Detailed documentation including SW technical specifications and other customer deliverable
• Interact directly with customers and vendors.

 
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (a Master’s Degree is preferred) and at least 5 years relevant design experience.
