Since 1949, Sarasota Orchestra has inspired and entertained music-lovers across the region and visitors from around the world. As the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida, each year the 76-member Orchestra performs more than 100 classical, pops, chamber music, and community outreach concerts.

Job Title: Patron Services Manager

Department: Patron Services

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Classification: Salary/ Exempt

Location: Sarasota

General Overview:

Responsible for creating a culture of customer-first service through front-of-house activities for all Orchestra concerts. Supervise the Orchestra’s front of house team, including house managers and volunteer ushers. Collaborate, liaison and maintain professional, positive relations with house management teams at other venues where the Orchestra performs. Establish an Orchestra lobby presence at other venues by extending the warmth which is the brand of the Orchestra, sharing Orchestra information and providing support to other venues’ house management.

Responsibilities:

·Schedule Orchestra house manager and usher ambassador support for performances at rental venues

·Represent and serve as the Sarasota Orchestra liaison with the FOH team at rental performance facilities; collaborate with rental venue house management to deliver as consistent a patron service as possible within the procedures of the venue, share information about Orchestra programs, and practices

·Assist at rental venues to ensure excellent patron experiences: collaborate to resolve FOH issues; assist house management in tending to any accident/incident that may occur and prepare Orchestra reporting per procedures

·Coordinate marketing archives and materials in venue lobbies

· Support rental venue protocols

·Create fantastic customer experience through excellent front of house management and usher interactions

· Greet and oversee seating of patrons at Orchestra Center concerts

·Resolve and follow up with customer complaints and concerns, reporting these to appropriate staff/departments

·Tend to and document any accident/incident that may occur at Orchestra Center

· Secure schedules, train and manage House Managers and volunteer ushers for all concerts

Create and maintain training materials, volunteer usher involvement and recognition program

·Maintain close contact with Box Office staff to troubleshoot ticketing and other patron issues while maintaining customer satisfaction and comfort; maintain close contact with the Development team for sponsor/donor services at concerts

·Communicate with Production staff regarding start time and intermission interval for each performance

·Schedule and lead pre-concert interdepartmental meetings to generate and distribute call sheets

·Ensure compliance with audience safety protocols as may be developed with other staff

·Ensure safety of patrons by scheduling SPD extra duty detail for concerts and assigning a point person to the officer

Perform other relevant duties and additional projects as assigned. Duties and responsibilities described herein are not a comprehensive list, and additional job tasks may be assigned from time to time as necessitated by the Patron Services department and business needs.

Qualifications

·Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

· 3 years’ customer service/front of house experience

· 2 years’ experience with volunteers

· Ability to maintain a positive, professional and calm demeanor

· Exemplary communication, organizational, teambuilding, leadership skills

·Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated record of working with customers or performing arts patrons

·Knowledge of performance/theatre environment, or customer service experience with a service-oriented organization

· Availability to work many nights and weekends during the season

· Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and situations concurrently, make decisions with confidence and work under pressure

· Strong computer skills

· Willing to receive and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED/BBP Certification

Self-starter; ability to independently oversee and manage front of house for the organization

· Appreciation for live music performance preferred

· Knowledge of classical music preferred

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, move up and down stairs, bend, lift, use fingers and reach with hands and arms. The worker is required to have visual acuity to view a computer terminal, determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned, and make general observations of seating set-ups. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Working Conditions:

The job operates in a professional office environment and performing arts venues. The environment is generally moderate in temperature and noise level.
