Title: Seasonal Organizer Intern at SF Parks Forward
Reports to: Managing Director
Status: Temporary, Part-time
Location: Hybrid. Official work address is 1074 Folsom St, San Francisco, CA 94103
Salary: $21/hr
ABOUT THE POSITION
This role at San Francisco Parks Forward is intended to provide a well-rounded learning experience for its participants, who will gain experience in a varied and supportive non-profit environment focused on San Francisco’s parks and public spaces. This position intends to support our efforts to organize San Franciscans on behalf of our public spaces and identify new ways to engage with neighbors in support of our parks.
SF Parks Forward advocates for San Francisco’s parks and public spaces. By engaging neighbors and educating leaders to bolster our park system, we expand the idea of what a successful public space can be and ensure that our civic commons can thrive.
As a new organization, SF Parks Forward has a variety of opportunities and needs that this Seasonal Organizer Intern role is intended to support. This includes creating educational content, tracking commissions and committees, event coordination, and social media management to distribute content and promote our events, among other duties. Given that this role will commence during the busy summer events season, event planning, stakeholder outreach, and hosting public-facing activities will be a focus of this role. This event coordination will comprise about 30% of the work, averaging close to 8 hours per week. Additionally, this position will focus on an independent project highlighting one of SF Parks Forward's core issue areas: Equitable Park Access, Reimagining the Public Realm, and Permit Reform. This project will comprise another 30% of the work, with the remaining 40% being divided among content management and distribution, commission tracking, and various administrative duties.
This position reports to the Managing Director. The position requires a combination of in-office, remote, and field work, totaling 28 hours a week, Monday-Thursday, with flexible hours.
Interviews for this position will start in April.
