The Community Ambassador will provide service within the Community Living Room (CLR), other San Francisco Community Health Center locations, and in the community via outreach, engagement, and navigation. Community Ambassadors will also provide support and connection to CLR drop-in guests and clients of other programs at SFCHC around essential resources to assist them with their health and wellness. 

Essential Functions:

• Work in the Community Living Room Drop-in Center, or other SFCHC programs providing customer service to guests 
• Provide supportive counseling to guests
• Provide referrals to essential resources that can include: financial benefits, medical insurance, substance use treatment, housing, and food programming
• Provide linkage and navigation to substance use programming within San Francisco 
• Conduct wellness checks in the Community to support guests with engagement in the program and with their care
• Perform data collection, data entry, maintenance, and timely submission of documents for monthly reports and track client enrollment/activities and contractual program documentation and reporting requirements.

Major Duties

• Provide general health education to guests
• Attend and successfully complete all required training programs
• Participate in ongoing conference calls, webinars, and other professional development opportunities
• Participate in required department, inter-departmental and agency-wide meetings, trainings, and activities, which may include some evening and weekend hours
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Available to work flexible schedule, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends
• Six months of experience in a Community or Client-facing social service delivery program
• Six months experience with harm reduction, client-centered counseling, and motivational interviewing
• Demonstrated reliability and good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, written communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and have ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-racial and multicultural settings.
• Be able to provide customer service in an effective, courteous, and friendly manner and meet the needs of diverse clientele 
• Role model positive behaviors 
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, complete with booster shot, and able to show proof of vaccination.
• Proof of TB clearance (issued within the past 12 months or less) 
• Up-to-date with vaccinations, especially seasonal flu vaccine
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED
• Spanish, Vietnamese, or Arabic speaking
• Experience working in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco
