San Diego State University Research Foundation is Hiring a Remote Admin Support Coordinator I

Overview

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. 

The Community College Equity Assessment Lab (CCEAL) is a national research and practice center that partners with community colleges to support their capacity in advancing equity and student success for historically underrepresented and underserved students in postsecondary education. CCEAL has partnered with more than 100 community colleges across the nation to better understand challenges and design institutional interventions focused on these students.

CCEAL has developed rigorously validated tools for assessing institutional efforts and outcomes relevant to historically underrepresented and underserved students in postsecondary education. These instruments include the Community College Success Measure (CCSM), Community College Student Success Inventory (CCSSI), Community College Insights Protocol (CCIP), Male Program Assessment for College Excellence (M-PACE), and the Community College Instructional Development Inventory (CC-IDI). The tools are employed on college campuses to better understand experiences influencing the success of historically underserved students.

CCEAL houses the National Consortium on College Men of Color (NCCMC) which host trainings, information sharing sessions, and provides resources to colleges with initiatives and programs supporting college men of color. The NCCMC has more than 70 member colleges and is supported by the following affiliate partners: Achieving the Dream, the African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), The National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), The Community College League of California, and the League for Innovation in the Community College.

Responsibilities

Under general direction of the CCEAL Principal Investigators (PIs), the Coordinator is the primary contact providing administrative support to the Lab. Position interacts with CCEAL graduate students, undergraduate students, consortium colleges, data collection colleges, and numerous college and university leaders.

The Administrative Support Coordinator is responsible for but not limited to:

Administrative Support Coordination 65%

Responsible for carrying out administrative support operations and assisting in accomplishing the administrative objectives for the CCEAL by performing more difficult and responsible administrative support functions. Coordinates travel, reimbursements, and approvals for travel (in and out of state); schedule organizes meetings between CCEAL with partner college affiliates and inter-organizational meetings as directed by the PIs; manages email and telephone correspondence to and from project PI’s and Co-PI’s. Organizes site-based data collection at partner colleges, including parking, food and beverage, permissions and other duties as assigned; provides information, assistance, and resources to current responding to inquiries and queries from prospective partner colleges. Mails materials, assembling materials to mail, and receiving mail for CCEAL; scan data and inputting data collected from partner colleges; orders office supplies. The position is also responsible for coordinating the annual NCCMC Work Group Meeting in San Diego for approximately 300 of its partners and members.

CCEAL Project Management 30%

Coordinates the CCEAL project management system and assisting in the management of workflow; prepares CCEAL contracts, coordinating the process of contract approval, and the status of all contracts

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or related programs, and online databases to track data & provide reports
  • Knowledge of writing and presentation fundamentals to effectively communicate standard information
  • Knowledge of a variety of policies, procedures and precedents
  • Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address problems and develop solutions
  • Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data and make simple projections
  • Ability to schedule and assist in organizing special events, conferences, and meetings
  • Ability to display flexibility and independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects
  • Ability to draft and compose correspondence, standard reports and spreadsheets
  • Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals (i.e., students, faculty, staff, administration) and employ appropriate accommodations to meet their needs
  • Ability to display strong interpersonal skills interacting in a professional manner with students, faculty, staff and the public who are associated with or inquiring about CCEAL
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to work with SDSU college and education official, ARPE faculty and administration, SDSURF staff, including staff from the Interwork Institute
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and be responsive to PI in supporting grant-funded activities
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate procedures, policies, information, ideas and instructions
  • Ability to display organization, meet deadlines, possess good judgment and common sense
  • Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages
  • Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address problems and develop solutions
  • Ability to display sensitivity toward individuals from underrepresented groups (i.e., disabilities, ethnic minorities, second language learners, first generation students, veterans, international students, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be organized, display detail orientation, possess good judgment and common sense

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4-years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment
