San Diego Rescue Mission is Hiring a Grant Manager Near San Diego, CA

In our programs, we create a holistic approach to recovery and rehabilitation while ensuring that our building is a safe haven for men, women and children who have experienced homelessness.
The Grants Manager serves as key leader, manager, and writer of our Grant Program. They plan and implement sustainable and effective grants program. They manage grant writer/s, research funding partners, cultivate foundation and donor relationships, develop quality narratives about our key programs, oversee compliance reporting, and support internal & external project initiatives with an emphasis on grant writing and outcome measurement. The Grants Manager will build a strategic funding program, improve business opportunities through effective funding programs and execute meaningful projects that provide for the Rescue Mission's vision.
This position reports to and works closely with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Key Job Functions:
To Serve as a Member of the Development Team
  • Participate in Development Team meetings, activities and planning sessions
  • Lead tours, public presentations and periodic SDRM events
  • Collaborate with each Development department to achieve team goals and vision
  • Communicate program updates and trends to the Development team
  • Meet regularly with Department Director and other team members to discuss strategies and provide support
  • Demonstrate passion and energy to be a part of the homeless solution in San Diego.
Grant Program Management Responsibilities
  • Oversees the Grant Program, sets vision and direction and manages Grant Writer/s
  • Oversees grant timelines and proposal opportunities from application to approval
  • Manages the organization's grant requirements and application process.
  • Manages team's objectives and ensure monthly goals are achieved
  • Oversees all grant documentation, reporting and other administrative functions to ensure project deadlines are met
Grant Program Strategy and Reporting
  • Establishes new and strengthens existing Foundation relationships
  • Determines and create plans to enhance the grants administration procedure.
  • Evaluates & prioritizes funders according to focus alignment, geography, relationships, funding potential & deadlines.
  • Identifies & develops strategies to optimize the grants administration & application process
  • Researches potential funding sources that align with Mission goals and plans and provide annual plan to achieve target revenue.
  • Monitors expenditures for reporting, as needed
  • Analyzes grants program data and builds reports
  • Oversees grants database and centralized grant calendar & provide monthly updates to Director of Corporate/ Foundation Relations and the Vice President of Development
Department Leadership and Collaboration Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with Programs leadership team and Grant writer/s.
  • Meet with Rescue Mission Programs team for updated metrics and program expansion
  • Participate in monthly meetings with Director of Foundation Relations to review opportunities, database reporting and the grants calendar
  • Participate in monthly meetings with the Grant Writer/s to review opportunities, Virtuous database and grants calendar.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
The Mission assumes that the candidate will serve as an advocate for the Mission, will support and defend our Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Mission Values, and has a genuine desire to serve the Lord in the ministry of "rescue."
Work Experience / Education:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a Development related field, or 2-3 years commensurate experience
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with grant writing, grant management and/or development.
  • Basic financial skills to include developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting.
Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent project management and organization skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
  • Great Time management skills with the ability to prioritize work
  • Meet deadlines and produce quality results
  • Exceptional Interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Computer, CRM and project management software

  • Working knowledge of Virtuous, MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully
  • Exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions
Important Notes
Position Details: This is a full-time salary position (40 hours/week).
Pay: The rate of pay for this California-based position is $75,000 annual salary. The actual compensation offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits and Perks: The San Diego Rescue Mission makes available comprehensive benefits for all full-time employees, including 85%- paid employee medical option (for employee only, dependent coverage is available). Other benefits offered include dental and vision coverage, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness and Accident, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, a 401k program with employer match (can participate after 1 year of service), 11 paid holidays, Flexible work hours (position dependent), and paid time off.
Dress code: We work in a business casual dress attire environment, with casual-dress Fridays. The dress code does vary by position and department, please consult with your hiring manager to confirm your applicable dress code at the time of hire.
Supervisory: This position will supervise one Grant Writer.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear 10-30lbs.
