Salt Creek Park District is Hiring a Group Fitness Instructor Near Palatine, IL

Job Title: Fitness Instructor

Location: Twin Lakes Recreational Area

Department: Recreation

The position of Fitness Instructors are under the Recreation Supervisor and are responsible for instructing participants in a variety of fitness activities; dependent upon the class being taught. This is an at-will position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Leading a group of adults in a safe, educational and fun class while providing them with a good workout.
  • Setting up a sounds system and handling equipment with care.
  • Adjusting thermostat and putting equipment away at the end of the night.
  • Providing first aid for participants if/when necessary.
  • Taking weekly attendance of classes; making sure all attendees are registered for class.
  • Punching Punch Cards each week of class.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience and knowledge of fitness instruction is required.
  • *Certification is specific instruction is not required, but preferred.
  • Looking for individuals who are energetic, knowledgeable and can teach a variety of formats.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certifications are required.

Environment:

  • Required to work in and indoor setting.

Work Hours/Work Week:

  • Approximately 2-4 hours a week. Hours may be adjusted as needed by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Pay is a percentage based on amount of participants registered for the class being taught.
  • Pay is by session. Sessions are 6-8 weeks long and you will receive pay the first and last week of the sessions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $75.00 - $117.00 per month

Expected hours: 2 – 4 per week

Schedule:

  • Evening shift
  • Morning shift
  • Weekends as needed
