Director of Housing

Salish Kootenai College seeks applicants for:Director of Housing
Salary Range: $41,963-$45,483 DOEE

General Summary:

The Director of Housing is responsible for all administration, staffing, supervision, management, and maintenance, related to student housing on the SKC campus. Occupancy and eligibility procedures will be overseen by the Director. Governance of the units and their upkeep and records will be under the supervision and oversight of the Housing Director with assistance from administration and other support staffs. The Director directs departmental operations; sets department goals; ensure efficient operations and programming for student residents. The housing director is responsible for oversight, coordination, and delivery of student life programming; confidential and technical document preparation pertaining to leases; advising student residents on policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures. Tennant policy messaging, adherence and advocacy are key responsibilities of the position and contribute to overall health and wellbeing of the student population. Housing maintenance, contractor supports, and outside services are also overseen by the Director.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have both business and human service experience.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a business or human service area; or a combination of at least 5 years management or business experience, supervisory experience, 2 years of college, and experience with higher education student support services.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Must be highly organized and have experience planning and completing multiple tasks simultaneously despite interruptions.
  • Must possess and be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication through a variety of deliveries and audiences.
  • Individual must have demonstrated skills with human relations, conflict resolution, mental/human health, crisis management, or similar related experiences.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and records. Proficient in business computer software such as Word, Excel, Access, and the Web with ability to write and format routine business correspondence, reports, documents, manuals, and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, confidentiality and demonstrated commitment in supporting the needs of students from underrepresented populations are a must.
  • Supervision: 2 full time maintenance positions, 2 part time student maintenance techs, 1 full time administrative assistant, 1 full time Student Experience and Campus Life Coordinator, and several RA’s
