Position Description: Saint Mary?s Hall seeks a skilled and dynamic History/Social Sciences teacher with a passion for Advanced Placement United States History. The ideal candidate will embody a growth-mindset and support developmentally appropriate competencies to the diverse community of learners represented at Saint Mary?s Hall. This role may also include consideration for serving as the Upper School Social Sciences Department Chair.
Responsibilities
? Teach five classes in the Upper School, providing effective and professional classroom instruction and relevant assessment
? Serve as a community advisor to a small group of students
? Serve as a faculty sponsor to Student Leadership organizations such as Councils and Clubs
? Assesses students to evaluate their abilities through the lens of growth mindset and global competencies
? Establishes regular and effective communication with students and parents
? Engage professional development and identifies growth-based goals
? Participate in required non-classroom activities including parent/teacher conferences, faculty meetings, special activities, and performance events
? Assists in curriculum coordination and design across the divisions
? Models nondiscriminatory and unbiased practices in all activities
? Model and Support SMH policies and procedures
Qualifications:
? B.A. in History or Social Sciences or a related field required; M.A. in History or Social Sciences or a related field preferred
? Passion for the subject matter and for working with bright, motivated teenagers in a rigorous, college-preparatory environment
? High school or college teaching experience in History classes
? Independent School experience preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment?
? Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts?
? May work at a desk and computer for extended?periods
? Must be able to teach, instruct, and communicate with students, parents, coworkers, visitors, and other professionals in the English language.

? Have a good working knowledge of instructional technology equipment
? Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled environment
? Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold??
