Position Summary:

This teaching position provides 11th and 12th graders with a CTE (Career and Technical Education) program of study that teaches occupational specific skills, develops employability skills that includes a senior year internship and integrates/reinforces academic skills and provides 9th and 10th graders with an introduction to the biotechnology field.

Essential Functions:

• Supervise all students assigned in instructional activities
• Assists in planning and developing curriculum in order to meet competency requirements for the occupational/academic areas
• Establishes learning competencies for each lesson and maintains lesson plans for each instructional unit
• Develop and adapt instructional materials and experiences to meet individual student needs, aptitudes and interests
• Assess and record student accomplishments on a regular basis through an approved grading system
• Maintain accurate attendance records on students and follow school procedures for reporting student attendance
• Teach and enforce safety policies and practices required by federal and state laws, the school district and the department
• Develop and implement a variety of teaching strategies
• Establish and maintain an effective climate for learning
• Utilize appropriate classroom management and discipline procedures
• Plans and conducts appropriate educational field experiences
• Evaluates and recommends instructional aide, textbooks and equipment
• Supervises teacher assistants, when assigned
• Serve as positive role model and leader for students to follow
• Assist in development and implementation of a budget
• Create, attend and participate in advisory committee meetings and activities
• Follow district’s policies and procedures and adopted by the Board of Education
• Communicate regular with parent/guardians
• Identifies senior student internship sites and supervises student placement
• As part of the program evaluation process, maintain a Program Improvement Plan
• Records the student’s mastery of competencies as part of the Instructional Systems Manager (ISM) Systems
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate competence in behavioral skills, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations
• Must demonstrate competence in behavioral skills and written communications, organizational skills and interpersonal skills

Experience:

• Veterinarian experience (preferred)

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education

Physical Requirements:

• Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
• Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
• Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree

Working Conditions and Environment:

• Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
