The EOF Department at Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ is seeking an EOF STEM Tutor who will provide academic support to help program participants develop the skills required to master STEM course material in specific subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This person will provide individual and small group tutoring to students through class material review and test preparation. The STEM Tutor will also help develop and implement enrichment activities to enhance the participant's social development.

Essential Functions

• Monitor Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students’ academic progress, with particular emphasis on students experiencing academic difficulties, or on probation.
• Lead STEM tutoring sessions to help participants develop the skills required to master STEM material.
• Coordinates daily homework assistance and tutoring programs for students.
• Assist in the creation of learning activities and other department objectives.
• Complete tutorial log daily and complete monthly reports.
• Monitor the use of tutoring resources (laptops, calculators, books, etc.) during tutoring sessions.
• Design, develop and implement tutoring programs for EOF Summer Program, Fall, and Spring semesters.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline or related area.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of successful strategies for tutoring a diverse student population.
• Proven ability to communicate ideas, principles, and concepts effectively in individual or small group settings.
• Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
• Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the students.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience is required.
