JOB TITLE: Cafeteria Lead
DEPARTMENT/BUILDING: Building Cafeterias
REPORTS TO: CULINARY MANAGERS & DIRECTOR OF FOOD SERVICE
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Make sure that cafeteria runs smoothly and that building level reports and orders are completed and handled properly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
2. Must have knowledge of food product compliance, food safety, food cost and tray cost
3. Managerial Skills preferred
4. Must have experience with Point of Sale System
5. Ability to work in a multi-cultural, urban setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents, and the school community
6. Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and/or walk, may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work closely with building principal to make sure attainable personal preferences are addressed
2. Manage the day to day operations in the school cafeteria
3. Monitor food safety and ensure that the operations are HAACP compliant
4. Make sure that all food safety guidelines and protocols are followed every day
5. Make sure that all meals served are in accordance with provided menu
6. Facilitate all training for building kitchen staff
7. Keep accurate inventory of all supplies and complete orders as needed
8. Be sure that all ordered items are being used efficiently and effectively as intended
9. Establish roles and work schedule for team members
10. Monitor team productivity and provide suggestions for increased service levels
11. Establish good rapport with building staff and students
12. Complete mandatory paperwork to be turned into food service office
13. Make sure that all deposits are processed and turned in timely and accurately
14. Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. Managerial experience preferred
3. Money handling experience preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be ServSafe Certified
WORKING CONDITIONS:
School cafeteria environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature or issues related to cleanliness.

The Director of Food Service will evaluate this position annually. The evaluation form is available in the Human Resources and Labor Relations Department.
