Job Summary

Responsible for the fair and accurate disposition of the Company’s most complex claims, including referral files and 93A claims, through investigation, evaluation and settlement independently, and without supervisory oversight.

Duties:

• Interpret and determine policy coverage under personal lines, business owners’, commercial lines and personal umbrella policies.
• Establishes adequate loss and expense reserves in accordance to company guidelines.
• Analyzes, evaluates and settles files in litigation.
• Direct and monitor defense counsel in the handling of litigation cases.
• Review all legal invoices to ensure bills accurately reflect services provided.
• Monitor and control defense costs in accordance to company guidelines.
• Assists in training and provides a resource to adjusters.
• Prepare and present cases at arbitration and mediation without the presence of defense counsel.
• Direct field adjuster’s handling of CAT losses.
• Performs other activities as required.

Qualifications:

• College degree
• 15 years of experience handling MA and out of state bodily injury claims.
• Significant mediation and litigation experience required.
• Capable of handling complex claims without supervisory oversight or direction.
• Able to handle authority levels of up to $100,000 in accordance with company investigation and settlement guidelines.
• Ability to review and audit legal bills to ensure conformity with company guidelines.
• Adjuster licensing.
