Job Summary:
The Transitional Services Advocate is a dynamic and compassionate professional seeking to leverage their many years of experience in supporting survivors of domestic violence (DV). Additionally, this role is dedicated to utilizing a trauma-informed approach and fostering self-sufficiency while upholding confidentiality and empowering survivors.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive support to survivors of domestic violence, focusing on housing and vocational needs.
  • Conduct housing assessments, offer navigation assistance, and deliver individual life skills coaching and peer support.
  • Implement mobile advocacy/case management for Operation Fresh Start Rapid-Rehousing program participants, ensuring progress toward self-sufficiency and a violence-free life.
  • Oversee participant compliance with program guidelines and coordinate services with other advocates and agencies to develop action plans.
  • Utilize a strengths-based approach and trauma-informed practices, advocating for survivors' rights to self-determination, confidentiality, and access to supportive services.
  • Promote DV Housing First principles and involve participants in decision-making affecting their well-being through culturally competent practices.
  • Screen housing referrals internally and externally, ensuring compliance with housing qualifications and documentation requirements.
  • Utilize Clarity HMIS system for DV Housing Assessment and Matrix enrollment in Clark County Coordinated Entry system.
  • Liaise with local property managers and subsidized housing properties to identify suitable housing options.
  • Conduct ongoing case management of OFS program participants, logging each contact into a database for accurate data collection.
  • Support departmental efforts in housing, workforce development, and life skills classes as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in workgroup projects through the Southern NV Continuum of Care (CoC) and other relevant meetings.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports as required by the Resident Advocacy Director.
  • Collaborate positively with colleagues, demonstrating effective teamwork.
  • Stay updated on domestic violence resources to provide high-quality service to survivors.
Education:
  • Associate Degree in Human Services, Housing, Public Administration, or Related Field.
Skills:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences.
  • Empathetic, compassionate, and caring approach toward all survivors.
  • Proficiency in establishing and maintaining relationships with allied organizations and service providers.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, databases, email, and Internet usage.
  • Ability to adapt to change, manage competing demands, and make critical decisions effectively.
  • Commitment to ensuring security and confidentiality of clients and their families.
  • Skilled in practical, critical thinking strategies.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Possess a valid NV license.

  • Regular attendance during regularly scheduled business hours is expected. However, this position requires occasional flexibility in work hours as needed to accomplish department goals and objectives.
