Open Shifts: (16 Hours Per Week)

Monday- Friday - AM Support, (7:00am-3:30pm)

Monday-Friday PM Support, (3:00pm-11:30pm)

Graveyard (11:00pm-7:30am)

Saturday-Sunday (3:00pm-11:30pm)

Saturday-Sunday (11:00pm- 7:30am)

REPORTS TO: On-Call Supervisor

STATUS: Part-time, 16 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

CELL PHONE: Reimbursement

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a housing team member, the Site Associate will work in Venice (low-barrier, high tolerance) to provide services for SPY members experiencing homelessness. The Site Associate is expected to provide support and services to residents, most of which have a variety of complex health, functional and social needs, in order to help them transition back into the community. The Site Associate assists residents in breaking the cycle of homelessness by engaging with members. The role will also support site safety and documentation and collaborate with other departments to ensure that residents have a successful onboarding stay. 

The ideal candidate will strongly understand direct service to at-risk populations and trauma-informed care. Specific knowledge or experience related to transitional-aged youth experiencing homelessness is a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

· Act as the first point of contact for all new youth residents at the site/location. Greet and build rapport with residents on a daily basis; encourage residents to engage with ABH programming and services. 

· Ensure the grounds and facility are safe and secure for residents, staff and volunteers. 

· Organize and coordinate engagement activities; support ABH programming as needed. 

· De-escalate conflict and provide crisis intervention and mediation to youth as needed. 

· Collaborate with the case management team to coordinate members' care and to ensure they receive the services and support they need to achieve and maintain physical and mental health, and housing stability. 

· Keep detailed notes and track data in the SPY database and external databases as needed. 

· Complete and submit all required forms, case records, statistical reports and documentation to appropriate parties within designated timelines. 

· Develop close working relationships with local service providers, outreach workers, case managers, and collaborative agencies. 

· Utilize harm-reduction, trauma-informed, and housing-first approach. 

· Participate in meetings with collaborative agencies and other community meetings as directed. 

· Maintain safety and support on the grounds common area 

· Do daily duties like temperature checks/daily verifications for members. 

· Perform daily bungalow check-ins 

· Maintain a healthy and professional manner with members

· Support during breakfast, lunch, and dinner prep 

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization 

Requirements

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

· A commitment to and passion for the mission, vision, values, and culture of SPY

· Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict and crisis; knowledge of de-escalation techniques

· 1 years experience in social services or related field 

· 1 years of experience providing direct services to high-risk youth including counseling and advocacy

· Knowledge of social services for youth experiencing homelessness and at-risk of homelessness

· A willingness to work collaboratively as part of the SPY team and the ability to work harmoniously as part of a diverse workforce 

· A devotion to ensuring SPY's site remains clean, beautiful, and a hopeful place for those who enter

· A self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutions for an emerging organization 

· An ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires effective collaboration with a variety of organizations and individuals

· Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction and housing-first models 

· Must possess great communication and organizational skills 

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook), and Google Drive (preferred) 

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.

· Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, Revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: In an effort to stem the significant increase in COVID-19 positive tests as a result of the Delta variant, the State Health Officer has issued an order, which went into effect on August 9, 2021, requiring paid and unpaid workers of homeless services organizations to provide proof of vaccination and/or booster (if eligible for the booster shot) or participate in weekly COVID-19 testing if still not fully vaccinated. Please send proof of vaccination to HR@safeplaceforyouth.org. Failure to provide proof of vaccination will require the candidate to produce a negative test result within 72 hours of their first day of employment and commit to weekly testing. Driver Positions:

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record. Examples of an unsatisfactory driving record include:

· Suspended or revoked license

· Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months

· Any violations, including drugs, alcohol, or controlled substances, within the past 24 months

· Reckless driving, including hits and runs, within the past 24 months

· At fault accidents, resulting in a fatality or serious injury, within the past 5 years

About Safe Place for Youth

Safe Place for Youth was founded in 2011 by a group of dedicated volunteers and Founder/Executive Director Alison Hurst, offering hot food, clothing, and socks to homeless youth in Venice Beach from their cars. Since those humble beginnings, we've been driven to give youth opportunities to transform by multiplying our services, building our programming, and strengthening our partnerships. With incredible support from Board Members, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations, SPY has grown from a 100% volunteer-led organization to a professional staff of approximately 60 employees, whose ski...ll sets have strengthened our programs. In April 2015, we moved into our own building in Venice, giving us the opportunity to expand programs, address youth needs, and partner with local specialty service providers. The reality is that the numbers of homeless youth have increased to epidemic proportions, which means we must respond to the crisis by continuing to grow our programs and maintaining our leadership role with coalition groups working to end youth homelessness.
