Position SummaryLead interdisciplinary STEAM programming for grades 5, 6, and 7Principal Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead interdisciplinary STEAM programming for grades 5, 6 and 7, 3-4 times per weekPlan, organize/prepare, and implement STEAM programming that includes experiments, art, project work, and discussionBuild strong and mutually respectful relationships with students and their families based on open communication and collaboration, including weekly communications to families on Parentsquare and on the phone Facilitate and sustain an emotionally safe and trauma-informed classroom environmentMaintain and model professional boundaries and mutually respectful relationships with students, colleagues, supervisors, and community partners with the foundation of open communication, respect, and collaborationHelp to foster establish and maintain an emotionally safe and trauma-informed environment at HSHUCollaborate with STEAM consultants weekly to pivot, plan, adjust, and individualize learning for all scholars Oversee and work in collaboration with a team consisting of a lead classroom teacher, classroom coach, SEL Response team, administrators, and various consultants Attend all training, professional learning, onboarding, programming, and community eventsCollect and input all required metrics, data, and surveys by assigned datesOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other AttributesMinimum 2-4 years’ experience teaching STEAM Experience working with a wide range of abilities and differentiating learning to meet the needs and interests of all studentsExperience teaching social-emotional learning and with mentoringExperience building community in middle school classrooms Strong commitment to antiracist practice and the HSHU missionWillingness to connect with the HSHU community after the summer program by attending school year eventsExperience with project-based learning Effective oral and communication skillsExperience using technology to enhance instructionSkills needed to mentor and coach classroom staffUnusual Working ConditionsSeasonal DatesDates of Program:Training week – 6/19-6/23Program Days 6/26-8/4, two required evening events 7/31 and 8/2Clean up Days 8/7 – 8/8Pre-Training Onboarding – Date TBDTrainings generally run 9am – 4pm, Program days are 8am – 4pm Supervision of PersonnelInterns/classroom coachesVolunteers
