Position SummaryThe Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting and retaining players, practice preparation, game-day coaching, and other administrative duties for the team. This is a part-time position that will run from August 1st to March 30th of each academic year. Principal Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the recruitment of prospective students who will meet University admission standardsBe responsible for all ACHA league required paperwork as well as well as understanding all rules associated Foster and enhance relationships with other coachesResponsible for the retention of all team members, particularly first-year students, and ensuring their transition into college is seamless Work with the Club Sports staff to develop a cohesive program and highlight those via social media and the Club Sports websiteDevelop a recruitment plan beyond the upcoming seasonWill create and implement a weekly practice plan to ensure all team members are prepared for competitionThe coach should demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilitiesPrepare, plan, and coordinate the practice schedule for each weekProvide proper and high-end instruction to student-athletes Work with the Athletic Training staff and Strength and Conditioning staff on player safety and developmentOversee all game day responsibilities, including game planning, transportation, and game rosterWork closely with the Director of Club Sports and Intramurals for the preparation of the season, schedule, and recruitmentResponsible for recruitment and retention of club hockey student-athletes Manage coaching staff and student manager staff as hired by the Head CoachMaintain a close working relationship with ACHA leagueOther duties as required or assignedKnowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other AttributesMinimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate levelBachelor’s degree requiredMust be willing to work nights and weekends as the vast majority of games are Friday-SundayPossess experience working with diverse staff, including college-age studentsMust maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification Unusual Working ConditionsNights and weekends will be required.
