Position SummaryThe Associate Dean is primarily responsible for the overall operation of the Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT): faculty oversight, development, and evaluation, fostering teaching effectiveness; and promoting high-impact research.As a member of the senior management team of the College, the Associate Dean collaborates with the Dean, other Assistant/Associate Dean(s), Program Directors, and others throughout the university to develop a culture of collaboration, trust, quality, and equity amongst students, faculty, and staff. Academic title/rank for this 12-month faculty position will be commensurate with experience/qualifications. Specific responsibilities of the Associate Dean of are listed below. Responsibilities Related to FacultySupervise full-time faculty: ensure compliance with university policies, address violations, and work with Human Resources to develop resolutions.Working with program directors, oversee recruitment, development, and management of full-time and adjunct faculty. Oversee faculty development, mentoring and other initiatives.Assist program directors and Dean on faculty performance issues (e.g., student complaints) when necessary. Serve as primary liaison between WCBT and Human Resources.Participate in and oversee coordination of Annual Performance Reviews for all full-time faculty. Monitor faculty research output to ensure maintenance of AACSB scholarly activity requirements and address at-risk faculty. Collaborating with Global Engagement office, identify and develop partnerships with international institutions in support of faculty research collaboration and exchange programs. Working with the CTL and Student Pedagogy Committee, create initiatives to enhance faculty pedagogy development and innovation.Enhance and extend faculty research, teaching, and professional practices through consulting and executive education programs. Serve as WCBT representative on the Provost’s Teaching & Learning Council to continuously enhance the quality of faculty teaching. Responsibilities Related to ResearchWorking with Research Committee, create initiatives to foster a culture of research productivityDevelop, promote and oversee research collaboration groupsManage and allocate conference and non-conference funding budgetIn collaboration with faculty, research collaboration groups and Research Committee, maintain standards for evaluating research quality and impactDevelop, manage and promote research presentations from faculty and external guest scholarsWork with mentors and other faculty members to assist junior faculty in developing effective research strategies toward successful tenureMonitor faculty research output to ensure maintenance of AACSB scholarly activity requirements and address at-risk faculty Responsibilities Related to AccreditationOversee annual reports and preparation work by relevant WCBT faculty committees and key data stewards to ensure timely documentation on a yearly basis and submissions of all necessary documentation (e.g., re-accreditation application form, PRT nomination form, comparison groups, CIR report).Work with the Dean, senior management team, and faculty to evaluate and document performance in meeting strategic priorities and goals from the WCBT 2021-2025 Strategic Plan on a yearly basis. Work with Chairs and Director of Accreditation and Administration to update faculty qualification status on a yearly basis with a five-year outlook. Other Administrative DutiesParticipate in college-wide strategic decision-making as part of the senior management team. Assist dean with any miscellaneous requests/correspondence from faculty, students, community, etc. as needed.Other day-to-day operational issues. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other AttributesDoctoral degree in a business or computer science discipline required.5 years of faculty experience and research program commensurate with rank of Associate or Full Professor required.Previous Associate Dean or Chair experience preferred.Experience with AACSB accreditation is strongly preferred.Supervisory experience is required.Must be highly motivated with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication while being able to think critically, analyze data, and process detailed information quickly and efficiently.Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, parents and students while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.Demonstrates ability to translate university initiatives to faculty and staff in a positive and collegial manner.Adheres to inclusive excellence.Demonstrates high level of problem solving and creative solution generation. Unusual Working ConditionsWorking hours may include evenings and weekends as needed. Application Instructions:Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
